The image belongs to what was once known as the age of the reindeer. She says "in prehistoric times there was, as far as historians can tell, no division between medicine, magic and religion.
I drove from Houston to Austin with Josh, which was a great time by the way, and then we arrived in Austin in time to have supper with Ashley and some her friends from both high school and university.
I then had the opportunity to travel back to Cypress from Austin with Mom which also was an amazing time. We had a great chance to talk about many things and one of the topics we talked about was how a couple of the guys and girls in the group seemed to be emotionally sad because of negative experiences with their Dad, or Moms, that were still having an impact on their own lives and happiness.
It is amazing how profoundly what we experience in love and relationships at home can influence our view on what things are going to be like in our own lives.
One of the things that I continue to learn about as a parent is just how awesome a responsibility it is to be a parent. Now I know some of you may be thinking that this particular revelation comes a little late for someone who has been a parent for a little more than 26 years, but I think the learning as a parent never really stops.
I see the significant impact the parents have on their kids by the way they respond to relationship issues, difficult times in life and matters of trust and honesty.
Failing to live up to God expectations in any of these areas not only can seriously impact and damage relationships for parents, but it has a trickledown effect that also has a negative influence on the kids.
When a mom fails to be faithful to her marriage relationship I am absolutely sure she never considers the long term effect that decision will have on her kids but there in unquestionable evidence the impact can actually be greater on the children.
The same holds true for the Dad that fails to be truthful and honest in his relationships all because of what He believes is right for him, but that has fall out for generations to come. The unfortunate truth is that the indiscretions of the parents often only get magnified by what their kids end up facing in their own relationships.
It is encouraging knowing that God can make all things new, but disheartening when you see how much pain and destruction the world is facing due to parents who fail to live love and commitment in their daily lives and end up multiplying issues in the lives of their kids.
It was great to read the following verses from Romans after dealing with the topics above because Christ does give us real hope. Fortunately we do have great hope. We have hope because we each know that no matter what we do have a Father who loves us just the way we are.
During the previews it showed the latest Curious George movie that was coming out.
You all know the story about Curious George. Basically Curious George is a monkey that gets into trouble wherever he goes based on always being curious and the man in the yellow hat always comes long to rescue George just in time.
Before he leaves, he gives him his standard plea: In a matter of minutes, he opens a few cages, and puppies end up running all over the place, barking up a storm. OK, so why am I piling up on a cartoon monkey? The Curious George types think little about consequences.
The destination they want is thousands of miles away from the road they are traveling. Or to put it another way, they are dreaming about enjoying a crop of fresh strawberries while planting some serious weed seed.
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up Galatians 6: This passage makes it very clear that how you live now will be the basis for the life ahead of you especially when it comes to important stuff like work, faith, marriage and family.
Just having good intentions is not the same as living with intentionality. Each season builds on the last.
In your 20s, you reap what you sowed in your teens; in your 30s, you reap what you sow in your 20s. Fruitfulness now leads to fruitfulness later.Donald Trump is now doing the same thing with regards to the caravan of refugees and asylum seekers escaping violence and insecurity from Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador).
The Adult Sports Program offers area residents an opportunity to participate in organized adult leagues and tournaments year-round. The majority of our softball, soccer and flag football leagues and all tournaments are conducted at the Regional Sports Complex (Jensen & West).
